Under the dual national strategies of “Healthy China 2030” and “Yangtze River Delta Integration,” Nanjing—an important national center for science, education, and medical innovation—has brought together top-tier medical resources and a dynamic ecosystem for biopharmaceuticals and medical devices, providing fertile ground for the integration of medicine and engineering as well as for the cultivation of medical talent.

Recently, a study delegation from the School of Clinical Medicine at Tsinghua University visited Perlove Medical to carry out a medical practice program.

A Two-Way Journey Between a Top University and a National Brand

As one of China’s leading universities, Tsinghua University stands at the forefront of higher education, and its School of Clinical Medicine is a core hub for clinical medical education and research in China. The school boasts deep academic expertise and industry leadership in areas such as clinical research, medical education reform, and interdisciplinary innovation between medicine and engineering. To help students gain a comprehensive understanding of models for medical technological innovation and pathways for translating research into practice, broaden their professional horizons, and scientifically plan their career paths, the school organized the “Tsinghua University School of Clinical Medicine – Yangzhou – Nanjing Medical Practice Program.”

Perlove Medical, a national-level “Little Giant” enterprise specializing in advanced and innovative technologies with 23 years of experience in the medical technology field, focuses on clinical needs and independent innovation as its core principles. The company has built a full industrial chain covering the research and development, production, sales, and service of medical X-ray imaging equipment and orthopedic surgical robots. This provided unique advantages for the study visit. Among numerous top-tier medical institutions, Perlove Medical was the only medical device enterprise selected for the program, serving as a “special stop” and offering Tsinghua students a real-world window into the integration of medicine and engineering.

Tracing the Path of Medical Device Innovation

Accompanied by professional staff from Perlove Medical, the Tsinghua students embarked on an immersive journey of innovation exploration, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the company’s development history and technological evolution.

In the innovation achievements exhibition area, the delegation observed equipment such as surgical robots and mobile 3D C-arm systems, and learned in detail about their R&D concepts, technological advantages, and clinical application scenarios.

Pooling University–Enterprise Strength to Empower Talent Development

After touring the facilities and equipment, representatives from both the university and the enterprise held a discussion session focusing on topics such as “Aligning top-tier medical education with real clinical scenarios” and “Career planning for high-level clinical medical talent.”

Mr. Nie Xinkun, head of Perlove Medical, warmly welcomed the delegation from Tsinghua University’s School of Clinical Medicine. Drawing on the company’s 23 years of development experience, he emphasized the importance of “driving technological innovation through clinical needs and empowering talent cultivation through market orientation.” He affirmed the direction of university–enterprise collaboration to break down barriers among “education, research, production, and application,” and proposed a vision of jointly cultivating interdisciplinary talents who understand clinical practice, technology, and the market.

During the discussion, Tsinghua students actively participated. Student representatives from cutting-edge research fields such as nuclear medicine and imaging AI engaged in in-depth exchanges with Perlove Medical’s delegation, discussing how to better connect technological research and development with clinical needs based on their own research projects.

The study program concluded successfully. Representatives from Tsinghua University expressed that through this visit, they not only gained a systematic understanding of the technological iteration logic and commercialization pathways of medical device enterprises, but also developed a deeper awareness of the close connection between their own research topics, clinical practice, and industry demands—providing fresh insights for their future research endeavors.
