How does U arm measure scoliosis and interpret its judgment criteria?

The human spine is composed of multiple segments, and during the process of growth and development, it is inevitable that segments of the spine will bend due to various reasons. Scoliosis is a type of spinal deformity, which is caused by the curvature of spinal segments to the side, accompanied by vertebral rotation, and can lead to a series of symptoms such as poor posture, high and low shoulders, long and short legs, and pelvic irregularities. Among over 300 million teenagers in our country, up to 5 million suffer from scoliosis.

Is it scoliosis as long as the spinal segment bends? The fact is that there are corresponding standards and methods in medicine to determine whether a patient has scoliosis.

X-rays are one of the important indicators for judging the severity of scoliosis, and the most commonly used measurement method is Cobb angle measurement.

When measuring the curvature of the spine, it can be divided into three steps:

Firstly, it is necessary to determine the end vertebrae of the scoliosis, with the upper and lower end vertebrae being the vertebrae with the highest inclination towards the scoliosis concave in the middle of the scoliosis;

Next, draw a horizontal line at the upper edge of the vertebral body of the upper vertebrae and a horizontal line at the lower edge of the vertebral body of the lower vertebrae, while making a vertical line for each of these two horizontal lines;

Finally, measure the angle of intersection between the perpendicular line of the upper edge of the cone and the perpendicular line of the lower vertebra, which is the Cobb angle. A Cobb angle above ten degrees is considered scoliosis.

Comparison between normal spine and scoliosis

After measuring with an X-ray machine, the severity of scoliosis can be divided into:

10-20 degrees belong to mild scoliosis and do not require surgical treatment, but require exercise correction training under the guidance of a doctor;

20-40 degrees belong to moderate scoliosis, and it is recommended to undergo brace treatment under the comprehensive evaluation of a doctor;

A degree greater than 40 degrees is considered severe scoliosis, and it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination and surgical treatment.

When evaluating the severity of scoliosis on the coronal plane of the spine through spinal X-ray imaging, a half section spinal X-ray image of a non full spine puzzle can only serve as a reference for evaluating the condition of scoliosis. To obtain accurate scoliosis, it is better to use a large field flat DR to capture full spine X-ray images.

As a large tablet dynamic DR, the Puai PLX8600 is designed for clinical wide field needs, with a 17 “* 34” effective field of view, which is twice the size of large-sized tablets on the market. It can cover all spinal or lower limb images in one go, achieving non splicing imaging in one go, significantly improving work efficiency and diagnostic accuracy.
