Mobile DR (Digital Radiography) is a portable version of digital X-ray imaging technology. Manufacturers combine the digital imaging capabilities of traditional DR with mobility to enable rapid image diagnosis in various scenarios, such as bedside, emergency, and outdoor settings. Its core advantage lies in overcoming the limitations of fixed imaging rooms by providing flexible and efficient imaging solutions for medical institutions through wireless flat-panel detectors, compact X-ray generators, and intelligent image processing systems.

Mobile DR Medical Equipment

To understand the price of mobile DR medical equipment, it is best to look at the annual bidding data, but unfortunately, relevant data is not directly available.

We first found the bidding data for DR equipment in 2024 (including mobile DR), with a total of 2,033 units winning bids and the total bid amount approximately 2.12 billion RMB.

From this, we can deduce that the average bid price for a DR medical device is about 1.04 million RMB.

So, is there data available for the sales of the specific DR product — mobile DR? Yes, but it is from 2019.

In 2019, 3,956 medical institutions across 15 categories nationwide purchased a total of 7,472 DR units from 96 brands. Of these, 5,603 were regular DR systems, 928 were mobile DR systems, and 520 were mammography X-ray machines.

According to the China Medical Device Industry Association’s report, which analyzes the production situation of segmented products, mobile DR experienced rapid development from 2017 to 2019. Hospitals above secondary level in China widely adopted mobile DR devices, with production value increasing from 630 million RMB in 2017 to 1.05 billion RMB in 2019.

How Much Does a DR Medical Device Cost?

From the above, we can conclude that the production value of the 928 mobile DR units purchased by hospitals in 2019 was 1.05 billion RMB, meaning the average price of a mobile DR medical device was 1.13 million RMB.

Of course, 1.13 million RMB is just the average price. Factors such as brand, configuration, and region can lead to varying price tiers:

  • Economy models (400,000–800,000 RMB): Mainstream domestic brands (such as Perlove Medical, Wandong) focus on cost-performance, suitable for grassroots hospitals and health check-up institutions.
  • Mid-to-high-end models (800,000–1,500,000 RMB): High-end domestic models and imported brands (such as Philips, Siemens) integrate more intelligent features, meeting the needs of Grade A tertiary hospitals.

💡Key factors affecting the price:

  1. Detector type: Amorphous silicon (a-Si) or amorphous selenium (a-Se) — the latter is usually more expensive.
  2. Image processing software capabilities: AI-assisted diagnosis, cloud storage, remote access — more advanced features raise the price.
  3. Brand & after-sales service: Imported equipment tends to cost more but offers better warranty and training.
  4. Configuration details: Battery capacity, mobility (manual or motorized), shooting speed, etc.

Example:

For instance, the Perlove Medical PLX5500, a high-power mobile DR from a domestic manufacturer, uses an electric-assisted drive system with dual-drive dual-wheels, allowing zero-radius turns. It features a large-size embedded graphical LCD touchscreen for easy control, along with a dual-exposure design and a wireless remote exposure system that enables remote exposure in another room. In terms of image quality, the Perlove Medical PLX5500 integrates an image acquisition system and X-ray generator control, multiple post-processing algorithms, and technologies that significantly reduce radiation dose while improving image quality.

  • High-end customized models (1.5 million RMB and above): Some models come equipped with CT fusion imaging or 5G remote diagnostic systems. The price depends on the added technological value.

Finally, when purchasing mobile DR systems, hospitals should first clarify their application scenarios. For example, the emergency department focuses on rapid imaging, while the operating room requires high-resolution imaging. In addition to considering the equipment price, hospitals should also assess the long-term costs, taking into account factors like equipment lifespan, after-sales maintenance, and consumable costs.
