The 3D C-arm, also known as the mobile orthopedic 3D C-arm, is an upgraded version of the traditional C-arm that combines 2D imaging with “CT-like mode.” For example, the Perlove Medical PLX7500A,It can quickly acquire cross-sectional, sagittal, coronal, and 3D images during surgery, providing surgeons with more comprehensive observation angles. This enables accurate judgment of bone tissue and implant positioning, ensuring the success of the surgery and minimizing complications.

Main Applications of the 3D C-Arm in Orthopedic Surgery:
1.Fracture Surgery of the Limbs
The 3D C-arm is used for fluoroscopy in both the anterior-posterior and lateral views to determine the length and direction of screws and the alignment of fractures. After adjusting the screws to the correct position and length, the internal fixation device is implanted, and a final fluoroscopy confirms its correct placement.

2.Spinal Surgery
The accuracy required in spinal surgery is extremely high due to the complex anatomical structure of the spine. Taking the pedicle screw implantation as an example, this procedure demands the surgeon to accurately insert a screw with a diameter of about 5mm into the pedicle, which has a diameter of less than 10mm, without damaging surrounding vital structures. The 3D C-arm makes this process visible and provides both 2D and 3D images during the surgery, improving the accuracy of screw placement. Additionally, the collection range is significantly increased (capturing the height of six vertebrae in one scan), reducing the number of scans and effectively lowering radiation exposure and dosage. This also shortens surgery time and decreases the incidence of complications during and after the surgery.

3.Joint Replacement Surgery
In orthopedic surgery, the 3D C-arm is mainly used for the placement and anatomical reduction of shoulder, hip, and knee joint replacements. It ensures the precise implantation of prostheses while reducing radiation time and lowering radiation doses.

The 3D C-arm has proven to be an invaluable tool in the field of orthopedics. Its ability to provide high-resolution, real-time, three-dimensional imaging during surgery helps improve surgical precision, reduces complications, and enhances patient outcomes. As technology continues to evolve, it is likely that the role of 3D C-arms will expand further, offering even more advanced features to assist orthopedic surgeons in providing the best possible care to their patients.
